3D School Project

The 3D School is an exciting community project that combines several new video series on The Tech Train YouTube channel, with community involvement from anyone who is a part of our Discord server.

Each week I am publishing a tutorial video on YouTube demonstrating how to create a 3D model of an object in the free modelling software, Blender.

The theme of these models will be ‘things likely to be found in a school’, which will include everything from furniture (chairs, desks, lights, bookcases, cabinets, drawer units) to everyday items (books, stationery, computers, televisions), and from culinary items (kitchen equipment, food, plates, cups) to sports equipment.

And that’s just the start!

These tutorials are all beginner friendly, so can be followed easily by anyone – even if you’ve never used 3D modelling software before. These tutorials can also be used in schools.

Anyone who follows one of these tutorials can then upload their own model through our Discord server, and their models will be placed inside a massive 3D school that anyone can visit and explore.

The 3D school has been built in Blender, and is available as a virtual world anyone can walk around and explore in Unity. There is also a mirror version of the same school building in Roblox.

As well as teaching everyone how to create models in Blender, and showcasing everyone’s models in a public online world, I will also be teaching how to create your own worlds and games in both Unity and Roblox.

This is an exciting opportunity to learn some of the most in-demand skills in one of the most dynamic and fast-growing industries – game development.

It’s also a great way to connect with others, learn and support each other, and develop new skills that can open all sorts of doors.

Make sure you’re subscribed to my YouTube channel, and turn on notifications so you know as soon as a new tutorial lands. Also, make sure you’ve joined our Discord server so that you can ask for help or advice if you need it, see other people’s models, and upload your own.
